Written and directed by Emily Harris and inspired by Sheridan Le Fanu's classic Gothic vampire novella, CARMILLA is a coming-of-age tale heady with sensuality and the supernatural. Lonely 15-year-old Lara (Hannah Rae, Broadchurch) lives in total isolation in her family home with only her governess Miss Fontaine (Jessica Raine, Call The Midwife) for company. Struggling to find an outlet for her burgeoning sexuality, Lara becomes enchanted by the arrival of a mysterious girl, Carmilla, who recuperates at her home following a carriage crash. The pair form an intoxicating relationship peppered by blood lust, mystery, and the vampire myth lurking around every corner, with Miss Fontaine unable to stop Lara falling into Carmilla’s thrall.
