From Russian director Victor Kossakovsky comes documentary GUNDA, an experiential and intimate portrait of the daily lives of farm animals. Following a pig, two cows, and a one-legged chicken, and with Joaquin Phoenix on-board as executive producer, Kossakovsky’s film uses stark, black-and-white cinematography as well as the ambient soundtrack of a farm to meditate on what it is that our animal counterparts experience from day to day. Profoundly powerful, a film to relish in and not rush out of.
