Mole Agent, The

Nominated at this year’s Oscars for Best Documentary Feature - and only the third Chilean feature film nominated ever - is Maite Alberdi’s THE MOLE AGENT, a moving doco that explores the realities of growing old... by way of a spy tale. Sergio, 83, is an undercover Chilean spy (sort of). Hired as an infiltrator by a private investigator whose client suspects her mother is being abused at a retirement home, Sergio immerses himself in the art of espionage and gathering intelligence. A perfect distraction for his grief over the recent loss of his wife, Sergio finds himself growing close to several residents - and realising that the truth about what goes on behind the scenes is not what anyone expected. Sweet, heart-warming and funny, THE MOLE AGENT is a lesson on loneliness, ageing, and human connection.
