Worst Person In The World, The

Norwegian director Joachim Trier has been making films about Oslo since 2006, and now finishes his trilogy with THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD, a dark romcom-drama. Chronicling the quest of love and meaning set in contemporary Oslo, our protagonist is Julie (Renate Reinsve), a young woman in the midst of an existential crisis. Trying to navigate the murky waters of both love and career, with her older boyfriend wanting to settle down and unsure if she’s on the same page, Julie meets the young and charming Eivind one night at a party - and things come askew. Soon, she’s out of one relationship and into another, hoping for new perspective but unable to pump the brakes. Voted by Cannes attendees as one of the best of the fest, Trier’s film is “an instant classic”, and Reinsve “sublime”.
