Sandra (Sandra Hüller), her husband Samuel (Samuel Theis), and their son Daniel (Milo Machado Graner) live a secluded life in the French Alps. When Samuel is found dead, the police rule the circumstances as suspicious, and Sandra becomes the prime suspect. As her trial begins, little by little it becomes not just an investigation of the circumstances surrounding Samuel's death, but an unsettling psychological journey into the depths of their conflicted relationship.
