Troubled San Francisco police detective Nick Curran (Douglas) begins to investigate the death of a former rock star, sending him colliding with the victim’s lover, novelist Catherine Tramell (Stone). Becoming dangerously obsessed with her, lines of truth and suspicion begin to blur as Curran attempts to discover whether Tramell is an innocent victim or shares more in common with the sinister characters from her books.
