Blue Caftan, The

Halim (Saleh Bakri) is one of the few enduring maalems, or master tailors, in one of Morocco’s oldest quarters. Along with his wife Mina (Lubna Azabal), they run a traditional caftan store and service a demanding clientele. When the talented and handsome Youssef (Ayoub Missioui) is hired as an apprentice, the young man’s presence and effect on the couple force them to reconsider the future of their relationship.

Winner of the Un Certain Regard FIPRESCI prize at the Cannes Film Festival and Best Director at the Chicago International Film festival, director Maryam Touzani's THE BLUE CAFTAN is a sensitive drama exploring the flexibility within cultural and marital traditions.
