Clockwork Orange, A

50th ANNIVERSARY SCREENING! First released in Australia in 1972, Stanley Kubrick's dystopian thriller is considered one of the greatest motion pictures of all time as well as one of the most controversial.

Based on the novel by Anthony Burgess, Malcolm McDowell stars as sadistic gang leader Alex DeLarge. Carrying out acts of ultraviolence with the assistance of his band of 'Droogs', a home invasion that leaves a woman dead and her husband permanently injured causes Alex to be subjected to a new re-education technique being trialled by the government.

Critically acclaimed and a box office success upon release, A CLOCKWORK ORANGE was nominated for Best Picture, Director, Screenplay and Editing at the Academy Awards but became a target for censors across the globe, leading to the film being banned in England, Ireland, Singapore, Brazil and Malta.
