Fremont
Former Afghan translator for the US military, Donya (Anaita Wali Zada), struggles to build a new life in Fremont, California. Her days are spent writing fortunes at a fortune cookie factory in the city when, in a moment of sudden revelation, she decides to send out a bid for connection inside of a cookie. A wry mood-piece, reminiscent of the best of 90s indie cinema, FREMONT is a poignant slice-of-life of the immigrant experience in America.
Featuring gorgeous black-and-white cinematography and superb performances from Anaita Wali Zada and Jeremy Allen White (The Bear), indie-comedy FREMONT lands at Cinema Nova following its acclaimed premiere at last year’s Sundance Film Festival.
