Godmother, The

French screen icon Isabelle Huppert stars in one of the top films at this year’s Alliance Française French Film Festival - THE GODMOTHER. Directed by Jean-Paul Salomé, Huppert plays an underpaid and overworked police translator who - using her advantage of narcotics ring intel - decides on a career change: becoming a drug dealer going by the street name of “Mama Weed”. With help from two incompetent yet wholesome sellers Scotch and Coco Puff, Mama Weed soon attains notoriety….until the very police unit she works for begins to take notice too. A winning blend of comedy, drama, and film noir, and from a screenplay by author of the original book the film is based on - ‘La Daronne’ - you’ll come for Huppert but stay for the ultimately heartfelt tale of female empowerment.
