Godzilla (1954)

70TH ANNIVERSARY! Japan is thrown into a panic after several ships are sunk near Odo Island. An expedition led by Dr. Yemani (Takeshi Shumura) discovers something far more devastating than imagined when a 50 meter tall monster emerges from the Ocean depths. Dubbed Gojira by the natives of nearby islands, the monster begins a rampage that threatens to destroy not only Japan, but the rest of the world.

Spawning decades of increasingly bizarre sequels and imitators, Ishirô Honda's film is a, ahem, groundbreaking science fiction that demands to be seen on the cinema screen.
