Grand Budapest Hotel, The
Until PARASITE surged to the top of the Cinema Nova box office during a 9 month season that commenced in 2019, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL was the cinema's highest grossing film of all time - and for good reason. Wes Anderson’s 2014 caper had a bumper-packed cast (Ralph Fiennes, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Saoirse Ronan, Jason Schwartzman, Willem Dafoe, Edward Norton, Bill Murray of course….and many others), a wanderlustful setting, a beautifully cinematic colour palette, and a sweetly asburdist plotline that takes in young love, murder, cakes and one iconic furnicular.
Chosen by the BBC in their list of “The Greatest Films of the 21st Century”, the film - about a concierge (Fiennes) wrongly framed for murder at The Grand Budapest Hotel, and befriending a lobby boy (Tony Revolori) during his quest to prove his innocence, was an instant and enduring classic.
