Head South

MEET THE FILMMAKER: Sunday April 6, 2.15pm. Join writer/director Jonathan Ogilvie, producer Antje Kulpe and moderator/ jounalist Lawrie Zion for a post-film Q&A.
Making her acting debut, musician Benee stars alongside Ed Oxenbould (The Visit) in HEAD SOUTH, a touching New Zealand coming of age drama set in the intoxicating scene of 70s post-punk.
Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand, 1979. During a fortnight with his world-weary father, Angus (Oxenbould) is drawn to the underground post-punk music scene. Desperate to fit in with this magnetic subculture and avoid the doldrums of the city, he lies about his musical talents and feigns starting a band. Caught in the lie, Angus and his friends, especially the talented Kirsten (Benee), navigate tragedy, self-doubt, and derision to take the stage for the first time.
