Honeyland

The most awarded film out of 2019’s Sundance Film Festival reveals a hidden world in the remote mountains of North Macedonia where ancient beekeeping traditions have been passed down across generations. Hatidze, the last female wild bee-hunter in Europe, understands the natural balance that must occur between nature and mankind. When a family of nomadic farmers invade her land and threaten her livelihood, the tension between sustainability and exploitation is exposed in Tamara Kotevska and Ljubomir Stefanov’s exquisitely photographed documentary.
