Lamb

In Icelandic director Valdimar Jóhannsson’s debut feature film, LAMB, Noomi Rapace and Hilmir Snær Guðnason play childless couple, Maria and Ingvar, sheep farmers in rural Iceland. Making an alarming discovery one day in their sheep barn - a newborn unlike any they’ve ever seen before - they decide to raise the girl, Ada, as their own. But soon, sinister forces combine, seemingly determined to return Ada to the wilderness from which she came. Terrifyingly tense, LAMB builds on the primal fears of loss and parenting to make it a masterful and eerily unnatural folktale - and ultimately leaves the audience with the pertinent takeaway that nothing can stop Mother Nature.
