LYNCHPINS: The essential films of David Lynch. See here for information on other features screening as part of this series.
David Lynch’s 1997 surrealist neo-noir psychological thriller horror film stars Bill Pullman, Patricia Arquette, Balthazar Getty, and Robert Blake. A musician (Pullman) begins receiving mysterious VHS tapes of him and his wife (Arquette) in their home. Suddenly convicted of murder, the musician inexplicably disappears and is replaced by a young mechanic (Getty) leading a completely different life. Described by the filmmaker as a "psychogenic fugue" rather than a conventionally logical story, it has since attracted a considerable cult audience – many of whom consider the film an underappreciated masterpiece.
