Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love

Heide Museum x Cinema Nova present: Acclaimed director Nick Broomfield’s documentary follows the maverick artist Leonard Cohen and his muse, Marianne Ihlen, beginning on the Greek Island of Hydra in 1960, when Cohen was an unknown writer and Marianne a young mother. Joining a community of expat creatives, Leonard and Marianne soon made musical history—but the parts you don’t know are depicted by Broomfield with never-before-seen footage. In a portrait of a friendship that lasted fifty years until their deaths, Broomfield bids a sweet ‘so long’ to the creatives who still inspire today with some of the greatest music ever performed.

Introduction by artist Robert Owen and museum admission are included in ticket price.
