Muriel's Wedding

CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF NOVA! Capturing the hearts of Australians upon release in 1994, PJ Hogan's MURIEL'S WEDDING launched the careers of both Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths while reigniting the nation's passion for the music of ABBA. Packed full of quotable quotes, iconic scenes, laughter and tears, Cinema Nova also memorably saw one happy couple perform their wedding vows in front of packed audience in cinema 4 prior to a public screening - making front page news in the process!

Muriel (Collette) is the adult daughter of influential local councillor Bill Heslop (Bill Hunter), wasting her days listening to ABBA on cassette in the seaside town of Porpoise Spit. Unable to hold down a job or new make friends, a chance meeting with a high school classmate (Griffiths) provides Muriel the opportunity to reinvent her life and finally move out of home.
