My Name Is Gulpilil

David Gulpilil has been an iconic figure of Australian cinema for fifty years, giving unforgettable performances in films like Storm Boy, Rabbit Proof Fence, Charlie’s Country and Australia. The great Yolŋu actor, dancer, singer and painter takes us boldly on the journey that is his extraordinary, culture-clashing life. A highly influential figure of the Australian screen who effected change in screen representation throughout his career, Gulpilil was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017 and given six months to live. Now, years on and still defying the odds, Gulpilil generously shares his own story with us in MY NAME IS GULPILIL, directed by Molly Reynolds, and filmed on Ngarrindjeri, Kaurna and Andyamathana Lands.
