Nightingale, The

The director of The Babadook, Jennifer Kent, returns with an equally as frightening tale – but this time it’s a story of revenge. Expect gothic gore and bloody vindication in THE NIGHTINGALE, as we follow Clare (Aisling Franciosi), a young Irish convict woman in the throes of enacting a plan of vengeance on a man who’s destroyed her family.

Pursuing him across the wilderness of Tasmania, she is helped by an Indigenous tracker, Billy – and the two of them find themselves battling the same enemy for different reasons. Also starring Sam Claflin, Baykali Ganambarr and Ewen Leslie, justice, wilderness, and the wielding of grief are all explored in Kent’s film, with Clare’s desperate manhunt leading her to search for her target, as well as what it means to be truly free.
