Rushmore

Wes Anderson’s iconic coming-of-age 1998 film RUSHMORE earned him a few Independent Spirit Awards, Bill Murray a Golden Globe nom and - most importantly - catapulted itself to cult status and the director onto a career launchpad. Jason Schwartzman (in his film debut) is Max, an eccentric young student at private school Rushmore Academy, who bonds with his mentor - Bill Murray’s Herman Blume - over their mutual love for school teacher Rosemary Cross (Olivia Williams). RUSHMORE may be offbeat but it is also a visceral look at the particular type of humiliation that comes with being in love during adolescence.
