When a man known as The Surfer (Cage) returns to his Australian hometown to buy back his family home, he finds that the setting he once loved has changed for the worse. He takes his son, The Kid (Finn Little), to the idyllic beach he grew up surfing at, but gets himself humiliated by a group of locals who've claimed ownership over the secluded area. Demanding to be accepted by the community he once belonged to, The Surfer doesn't back down, instead setting out for redemption and to discover what's really going on. As the conflict escalates, he is brought right to the edge of his sanity and his entire identity is thrown into question.
