Grieving her daughter's death in the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes, Mareta Percival reluctantly takes on the role of substitute teacher at an elite, all-white private school. Unexpectedly, she discovers students lacking guidance and care, prompting her to form a choir that engages with the symphony of her Samoan background and provide inspiration and support within a privileged community keen to put her in her place.
