MUSIC IN MOVIES
Great music stories on screen, with special guests in conversation with Jane Gazzo.
Join Jane for a chat with Rolling Stone Australia editor, Tyler Jenke before a screening of Cameron Crowe's hit Oscar-winning coming-of-age rock’n’roll classic.
Cameron Crowe's poignant, semi-autobiographical classic about going on tour with mythical (but perhaps not so mythical) rock band Stillwater in the 1970s has it all: a coming-of-age, a story steeped in real life, one hell of a soundtrack, and a star-packed cast of Oscar winner Frances McDormand, Billy Crudup, Patrick Fugit, Kate Hudson, Zooey Deschanel, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Noah Taylor. High school kid Willian (Fugit) is given a chance to write a story for Rolling Stone magazine about an up-and-coming rock band, as he hits the road to accompany them on their concert tour, despite the objections of his protective mother (McDormand). A treat for music fans, Crowe fans, those who’ve been humming “Tiny Dancer” for 20 years now, or anyone who’s ever wanted to feel cool - don’t miss it.
