Exhuma

A stylish supernatural thriller from director Jang Jae-hyun, EXHUMA sees a wealthy family summon shamans Hwa-rim (Kim Go-eun) and Bong-gil (Lee Do-hyun) following a series of paranormal events. Arriving to discover that a newborn baby has become the focus of a malevolent force, Haw-rim senses that the family has a dark connection to the Japanese occupation of South Korea. Recruiting geomancer Sang-duk (Choi Min-sik) and mortician Young-geun (Yoo Hae-jin) to the case, the group are led to a remote grave site concealing more than one secret from the family’s sinister past.
Brimming with bewitching South Korean mystic oddity, EXHUMA is as unpredictable as it is creepy. Recalling spooky K-horror The Wailing and Bong Joon-ho’s provincial police procedural Memories Of Murder, Jang’s South Korean box office hit leaves a haunting impression.
