Marcel (Slate) is an adorable, 1-inch-tall shell who enjoys a colourful existence with his grandmother, Connie (Rossellini), and their pet lint, Alan. Once part of a sprawling community of shells, they are the sole survivors of a mysterious exodus. When a documentary filmmaker discovers them in his short-term rental, a short film he posts online brings Marcel millions of passionate fans and a new hope of finding his long-lost family.
