A 17-year-old Manhattan student, Lisa Cohen (Anna Paquin) interacts with bus driver Gerald Maretti (Mark Ruffalo) as she runs alongside his moving bus. Allowing himself to become distracted, Maretti runs a red light and hits a pedestrian, Monica Patterson (Allison Janney), who subsequently dies in Lisa's arms. Initially reporting to the police that the driver had a green traffic signal, out of remorse Lisa soon changes her story. Confronting Maretti, who pretends to have forgotten the details of the accident, Lisa decides to pursue his firing from the bus company in collaboration with Monica's best friend (Jeannie Berlin). Co-starring Matt Damon, Jean Reno, Kieran Culkin, Rosemarie DeWitt, Olivia Thirlby and Matthew Broderick.
