Paradise of Thorns, The
Devoted couple Thongkham (Jeff Satur) and Sek (Pongsakorn Mettarikanon) have worked tirelessly to build a life together, including owning a house and a durian orchard in Mae Hong Son. When tragedy strikes, Thongkham finds he has no legal right to their shared assets. The house and orchard now belong to Sek’s mother (Srida Puapimol), who moves in with her adopted daughter Mo (Engfa Waraha). Forced to try and reclaim the fruits of his love and labour, Thongkham must engage in a fierce battle of the wills.
Strikingly directed by debut filmmaker Naruebet (Boss) Kuno, THE PARADISE OF THORNS' saturated yet playful colour palette, haunting soundtrack and twisted narrative delivers a calamitous story with a light touch.
