Room Next Door, The
Anchored by a pair of terrific performances from Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore and swathed in vivid colours, Pedro Almodóvar's (Parallel Mothers, Pain and Glory) English-language debut THE ROOM NEXT DOOR attests to the director’s universal fluency in provocative filmmaking. Met with rave reviews at its Venice Film Festival premiere, THE ROOM NEXT DOOR went on to win the festival's prestigious Golden Lion award.
Ingrid (Moore) and Martha (Swinton) were close friends in their youth, when they worked together at the same magazine. Ingrid went on to become an autofiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter, and they were separated by the circumstances of life. After years of being out of touch, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation.
