Thing with Two Heads, The

Cinema Fiasco return with one of the best-worst comedies of 1972! Join Janet and Geoff as they riff live in-cinema, dissecting this buddy comedy with a difference; THE THING WITH TWO HEADS.

Ray Milland is a grumpy old surgeon and racist. He’s got a heart condition and not long to live so he comes up with a revolutionary plan to prolong his life. Ray is convinced he can remove his head from his dying body and transplant it onto a healthy body and stay alive. How brilliant is that? Unfortunately, there are some issues and Ray’s honky white head is grafted onto the black-is-beautiful body of former footballer turned actor Rosey Grier. You can imagine Ray’s surprise once the sedative wears off. Hilarious and highly improbable hijinks ensue, the rampaging two-headed gorilla and the gratuitous trashing of every police car the production team could get their hands being two of the best. The two-headed transplant effects are largely achieved by having Ray rest his chin on Rosey’s shoulder and dressing them both in an XXXL sports jacket. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore – which is a great shame.
