Sorry We Missed You

Ken Loach (I Am Daniel Blake) returns with a raw drama representing the heart of modern Britain - and indeed summing up the daily lives of many just trying to support their families and get by. Written by Paul Laverty, Loach’s film tells the tale of a former construction worker turned van driver for a large delivery company.

Ricky (Kris Hitchen) lost his building career in the economic crash of 2008, and has two children and his wife Abbie (Debbie Honeywood) to support. When his mate cottons him on to what looks like an easy money earner - delivery driving - Ricky doesn’t realise it’s less about the personal touch, and all about meeting delivery targets. Lumped with debts because of having to rent his own van from the company, Ricky’s life soon devolves into a gut-wrenching account of trying desperately to stay above the line.
